• Nine Portuguese Artificial Intelligence startups will compete in the national final of the initiative on May 29 at the Portugal AI Innovation Factory in Lisbon.

Lisbon, May 27, 2026 – Nine Portuguese Artificial Intelligence startups will compete, next May 29, in the national final of the START Rise Challenge, in Lisbon, competing for prizes that include space at the Start Campus 1.2GW Sines Data Campus, Microsoft Azure credits of up to 150 thousand dollars and academic scholarships from Porto Business School.

The startups that will compete in the national final of the START Rise Challenge are now known, an initiative by Start Campus, in collaboration with Porto Business School, created to identify and support Portuguese startups that develop solutions based on Artificial Intelligence.

The finalist startups – DUA IA, Mena.ai, SpectrAll, ResiliSite AI, Invisible CFO, Witflow, SNAP, Kureus and Aleph Strategy – develop AI solutions applied to different sectors, from healthcare to energy, from cybersecurity to financial management, from creativity to critical infrastructure.

During the event, the startups will present their projects before a jury composed of representatives from the technological, business, academic, investment and media ecosystem. The competition will distinguish the three best projects, with prizes awarded by Start Campus, Microsoft for Startups, Schneider Electric, Oxbridge AI Challenge and Porto Business School.

The START Rise Challenge intends to establish itself as a platform for activating the AI entrepreneurial ecosystem in Portugal, bringing emerging talent closer to mentors, investors, technological partners and growth opportunities.

“The START Rise Challenge travelled through three cities in two weeks – Porto, Faro and Lisbon – and what we saw confirms the maturity of the Portuguese AI ecosystem: nine finalist projects with applications ranging from healthcare to cybersecurity, from financial management to critical infrastructure. For us, at Start Campus, opening our Data Center in Sines to the winning startup is a direct way of giving these teams what they need most at this stage: scaling capacity.”, says Robert Dunn, CEO of Start Campus.

For his part, José Esteves, Dean of Porto Business School, underlines that “We are making available to these nine startups a package of scholarships estimated at up to €108,000, applicable to the International MBA and the Master in Innovation Strategy and Entrepreneurship. It is not a symbolic offer but the recognition that the leap between a good AI solution and a sustainable business requires training in management, strategy and execution, and Porto Business School wants to be part of that journey.”

The startup winning the first prize will receive dedicated space at the Start Campus Data Center, in Sines, access to Microsoft for Startups benefits, including Azure credits starting from USD 100,000, with the possibility of increasing up to USD 150,000, and will be invited to participate in the Oxbridge AI Challenge, in London, in the fourth quarter of 2026. Each eligible co-founder will also receive a 30% scholarship on the tuition fee for one of Porto Business School’s eligible programs: International MBA or Master in Innovation Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

The startup distinguished with the second prize will receive a Schneider Electric prize worth €10,000, which may be used on APC brand solutions, consulting services or Schneider Electric training programs. It will also have free access, for one year, to the MyLearningLink digital training platform. Each eligible co-founder will also receive a 30% scholarship on the tuition fee for one of Porto Business School’s eligible programs.

The startup winning the third prize will receive academic scholarships awarded by Porto Business School, with each eligible co-founder benefiting from a 50% scholarship on the tuition fee for one of the school’s eligible programs.

The remaining finalist startups will have access to a 10% scholarship on the tuition fee, applicable to any Porto Business School program, for up to two eligible co-founders per startup. All scholarships are subject to the normal admission requirements, the availability of the programs and the internal conditions for awarding scholarships of Porto Business School.

The national final of the START Rise Challenge takes place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The program includes the startups’ final pitches, a networking lunch, the jury’s deliberation and the awards ceremony.

The jury will include representatives from entities such as Microsoft, Magnum Capital, Bright Pixel Capital, SAP Portugal, Schneider Electric, Siemens Portugal, Volkswagen Autoeuropa, Oxbridge AI Challenge, Porto Business School, NOVA IMS, Start Campus and ECO.

A startup distinguida com o segundo prémio receberá um prémio Schneider Electric no valor de €10.000, que poderá ser utilizado em soluções da marca APC, serviços de consultoria ou programas de formação da Schneider Electric. Terá ainda acesso gratuito, durante um ano, à plataforma digital de formação MyLearningLink. Cada cofundador elegível receberá também uma bolsa de 30% no valor da propina para um dos programas elegíveis da Porto Business School.

A startup vencedora do terceiro prémio receberá bolsas académicas atribuídas pela Porto Business School, com cada cofundador elegível a beneficiar de uma bolsa de 50% no valor da propina para um dos programas elegíveis da escola.

As restantes startups finalistas terão acesso a uma bolsa de 10% no valor da propina, aplicável a qualquer programa da Porto Business School, para até dois cofundadores elegíveis por startup. Todas as bolsas estão sujeitas aos requisitos normais de admissão, à disponibilidade dos programas e às condições internas de atribuição de bolsas da Porto Business School.

A final nacional do START Rise Challenge decorre entre as 11h00 e as 16h00. O programa inclui os pitches finais das startups, um almoço de networking, a deliberação do júri e a cerimónia de entrega de prémios.
